This is for a variety of fantastic quality Hedgerow plants – Please visit each plant’s individual page on our site for a full breakdown of their details and qualities.
The Best Value hedgerow mix consists of at least four of the most popular species: Hawthorn, Blackthorn, Hedging Rose (Rosa Rugosa) and Hazel. All you need to do is choose how many plants you need and the size you are after!
The mix of plants we will send will depend partly on the length and height of hedge you choose but will consist of 50% Hawthorn and then a mix of the other species! Where we can we will add in some other native species on orders for more than 100 plants, including: Elder, Rowan, Walnut, Dog Rose, Beech, Hornbeam, Silver Birch. Guelder Rose, Wild Cherry and Dogwood.
The Plants do not require particularly good soil and will quickly make a dense hedge which is easy to maintain. Each plant will grow approximately 25cm each year given average conditions and can be planted in full or partial shade.
If you have horses, please leave a note when ordering to let us know and we will include the appropriate plants, see our ‘Horse friendly’ hedgerow listing and order through there or contact us to discuss what can be included.
Like all bare root plants, this hedgerow mix can only be supplied during the dormant planting season which runs from the end of October to the end of March but may be ordered at any time of year to ensure your supply as we may run short of some varieties if demand outstrips supply.
Remember to protect your plants with rabbit guards in rural areas.
We recommend the use of Rootgrow mycorrhizal fungus which helps your plants to establish a good root system and take in nutrients and water.
How to plant:
We recommend that you plant in a single or staggered row at the rate of 5 per metre so just order the number of packs you need for the hedge length you are after!
Many apologies but due to a change in plant health law following Brexit, we are currently unable to ship to Northern Ireland. We are working on this and hope to find a solution soon!
