Stock Fencing
Low cost way to fence a garden, field or allotment. C8/80/15 Stock Fence is ideal to use as dog proof fencing. It is often used before planting a hedge if you want to hide the fence and have a secure boundary. Our fences are all made in the UK from mild steel. There are spring kinks between each vertical wire so don’t overtighten. Simply staple to the post!
Lots of heights and lengths to choose from
All stock fences have the same coding system in the title, such as C8/80/15 Stock Fence
The ‘C’ is the thickness – ideal for for farming and often referred to a pig fencing.
‘8’ is the number of horizontal wire lines in the fence. Usually 83cm for the first two rows and then gradually get wider as you go up the fence. Please see the image for these spacings!
’80’ is the fence height in cm. Fences come in three heights: 60cm, 80cm and 120cm.
’15’ is the width between the vertical wires – all our stock fences have a 15cm gap between the vertical wires.
How to erect a stock fence
First put in your fence posts. Space 1.8m to 2m apart – for a garden you can use 50mm dia. round posts or 75mm dia. round posts. The 75m dia. posts are much stronger and will last a lot longer and we recommend you place one at the start and end of your fence and one every 5 posts in between to act as strainers.
The fences come in rolls and you roll-out the fence as you fix it to the post using ‘U’ shaped fencing staples – don’t un-roll the whole fence!
Work from post to post, making sure the bottom wire is touching the ground at all times.
You can pull the fence tight by hand or with a tension bar but make sure you don’t over-tension – if the spring kinks are stretched out it is too tight – wire expands and contracts with heat so you must allow the spring kinks to do their job – otherwise the fence will sag.
We have everything else you need!
We also stock a wide range of fencing staples, line wire and high tensile barbed wire, as well a full range of fence posts.
